Non-Geographical Numbers
Non-Geographical numbers are ideal for businesses which want to demonstrate a national presence whilst also being able to generate a revenue from each call received (except in the case of freephone numbers). Detailed below is a list of the different number ranges and tariffs available.
All of the below business numbers can be used along side our IVR, which has many features - click here for more information on what IVR features are available.
0800/0808 Numbers
These numbers are commonly known as 'freephone' telephone numbers because they are free for a customer to call with the company concerned picking up the bill. For just a few pence a minute a freephone telephone number offers the following:
- Increased business enquiries - with no cost to the customer they have nothing to lose so are more likely to call.
- Showing the customer that you care - research indicates that customers view companies with freephone numbers as trustworthy and caring.
- Strong national presence - freephone numbers are often associated with national/international companies.
0844 Numbers
0844 numbers are often referred to as 'Local Rate' phone numbers - this is because calls to these numbers are charged at a flat rate of 5p per minute regardless of the location in the UK you are calling from. Digital Select will route the call free of charge to any UK landline and pay you a revenue accordingly, some of the advantages of 0844 numbers are:
- A national presence which allows you to market in areas where you have no physical presence - e.g. out of area yellow pages.
- A 'whisper' message upon connection if required - this can be a short sound file advising you of the calls origin, useful for people who work from home and use one phone line for both home and work calls.
- A voicemail service which will email you an audio file containing answer-machine messages received whilst unavailable.
- Routing to multiple numbers if required.
0871 Numbers
0871 numbers are commonly referred to as 'National Rate' phone numbers - calls are charged at a flat rate of 10p per minute regardless of whereabouts in the UK the caller is dialling from and Digital Select will pay a revenue accordingly. The advantages of 0871 numbers are similar to those of 0844 numbers with the main advantage being the higher rate of revenue.
Please note, 0871 numbers are now regulated by PhonepayPlus, and as such certain conditions need to be adhered to when using and promoting this number range - feel free to call us to discuss this in more detail if required.
01/02 Numbers
With various media campaigns to save our high streets, people like dealing with local companies. 01/02 numbers are designed for companies that wish to demonstrate a local presence in an area outside of their physical location. Digital Select can provide numbers prefixed with area codes to most of the UK and the cost to the caller is simply that of a local rate phone call.
03 numbers
03 Numbers are a relatively new number range and are the first non-geographic phone numbers to be charged at a standard landline rate - even from a mobile phone. 03 numbers offer all the same advantages as our 08 numbers (such as enhancing the national presence of your business) with one difference - the cost to the caller. With calls to 03 numbers included in most customers inclusive minutes there is nothing to stop them picking up the phone and making that key initial contact.
